Jewish Marriage Council
History

JMC was founded in 1946 by the late Chief Rabbi, Lord Jakobovits. We are approaching our 62nd year and still going strong. We are in the process of launching a new website and updating our services.
JMC mission statement
To provide a confidential counselling service for any personal, family or marital problem. To prepare young people, engaged couples and newly weds for a fulfilling marriage relationship. To raise public awareness of the values and benefits of Jewish marriage and family life. To actively encourage individuals to find their husband/wife. To provide appropriate services to support individuals at the end of relationships and beyond. To give advice and when difficulties occur negotiate between individuals on a religious divorce (Get). To provide our services to professional standards - all Members subscribe to a Code of Conduct & Practice.
Principles
We believe in the importance of Jewish marriage and family life as fundamental to the future of the Jewish community. We reflect in all the work of the JMC the Jewish values of communal responsibility (arevoot) and care, support and concern for others (chesed). We are a voluntary organisation available to all members of the Jewish community in the United Kingdom. We accept the religious authority of the Chief Rabbi and our religious supervisor is Rabbi Mirvis.
