Rosh Hashana Extravaganza 2009
Pearl Dale writes:
Thirtythree years ago I had a phone call from Rabbi Silberg, who told me that he and Vicky Cohen planned to open a nursery school for pre-school children at the Shul. If they had five children it would be viable, and would I send my younger daughter? I agreed immediately. Yavneh was started under the leadership of Vicky and has continued ever since. My daughter loved her time there.
My daughter is now married and mother to a five year old boy. When Vicky phoned me last week inviting him to attend a pre Rosh Hashana Extravaganza, of course we accepted.
Vicky was joined by a small group of helpers on Sunday September 13th, and together they organised a fun afternoon for forty children of all ages. My grandson baked chala, decorated a Rosh Hashana card, learned songs about apple and honey, listened to a shofar blowing competition and decorated wine glasses with colourful paints. The afternoon concluded with a play by the older children.
He loved it, and I enjoyed it as well. Well done Vicky, and thank you for continuing to inspire our young children.
